Architecture is part of our lives since the beginning of humankind. This
weeklong course covers a wide range of topics, including the origins of
architecture, development of styles of architecture, the processes of making
creative and functional designs, will make you know more about the best
architects around the globe. The lectures will discuss basic elements of
architecture as a career as well as use various case studies to explain the
frameworks of the incredible world of architecture. We'll provide basic knowledge
of research methods too.
In this course you will go through a process, which you can easily put into practice
and earn additional credentials. We hope this course serves you a launch pad
to go out and build higher studies or build a creative career. And most of all,
we hope you have fun and learnings.

Architecture and Sustainability
Most videos will be lectures with instructor talking. Each lecture will be illustrated with PowerPoint slides. This will be supported by readings, videos. The learning week will have one exercise on design skills. All resources beyond lectures will be available online to students at no charge. Most of these will be in PDF, slides and reference video.
Course requirements: As such there are no pre-requisite requirements. However, there will be certain reading materials and assignments.

Pilar Maria Guerrieri lives between Milan, London and Delhi since the past nine
years. She holds a PhD with honours in ‘Architectural Composition’ from Politecnico
di Milano, in collaboration with the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural
Heritage in Delhi and Westminster University in London.
She has been extensively studying the city of Delhi pre- and post- Independence
and, in particular, the impact of British and American cultures on its urban planning
and architecture. She has been researching European and Indian cultres, the
development of megacities and the effects of cultural exchanges, exploring the
meaning of terms such as ‘tradition’, ‘identity’ and ‘heritage’.
Pilar since she finished her PhD is teaching. She has been associate professor in
‘History and Theory of Architecture and Human Settlements’ in Delhi at the Italian-
Indian GD Goenka University, branch of Politecnico di Milano. She is now affiliated
researcher at Ambedkar University and adjunct professor of ‘History of
Architecture’ and ‘Urban History’ at Politecnico di Milano in Italy. She is Council
Member at ILAUD - International Laboratory of Architecture & Urban Design.
She has been published in several international journals, participated at national
and international conferences. She is the author of the book Maps of Delhi (Niyogi,
2017) and Negotiating Cultures: Delhi’s Architecture and Planning from 1912 to
1962 (Oxford University Press, 2018).
